Inbound Business Development Representative

Remote
Full Time
Entry Level

The role

You’ll own new business at TopRank from first inquiry to signed agreement. Prospective clients find us through our content, referrals, partners, and increasingly through AI assistants; so you’ll answer within one business day, qualify, run discovery, and present a proposal alongside our account leadership before bringing it home.

There is no cold-prospecting quota. You’ll report directly to our CEO and work hand in hand every day with our Senior Director of Client Accounts and our head of influence and social media to shape proposal strategy and pricing.

This role is 100% remote.

What you will do

  • Respond to every inbound inquiry within one business day, after checking our CRM and email history so nothing already said gets repeated.
  • Profile each prospect (company, market position, competitors, likely buying committee, the pain behind the inquiry) and qualify on budget authority and investment range before investing a call.
  • Run discovery calls with a written question set that surfaces budget, authority, need and timeline, and secure access to the economic buyer before any proposal is drafted.
  • Shape the proposal with the CEO and account leadership: match the prospect's goals to the right program and case studies, recommend single-scenario or tiered pricing, and prepare the scoping brief. You start under close guidance and take ownership as you demonstrate judgment.
  • Brief internal contributors with deadlines and scope, verify every statistic and case study figure against a primary source, and present the proposal with pre-reads and Q&A preparation.
  • Negotiate within approved pricing guidance, prepare agreements for signature, and brief the account team at kickoff. No unpaid work before signature.
  • Carry every opportunity to a decision: a signed agreement, a documented loss reason, or a dated return point.
  • Keep HubSpot current (stage, value, source, next step, lost reason) and report pipeline, conversion and response-time metrics weekly.
  • Feed what prospects ask for and object to back to marketing and leadership, and keep the proposal playbook current.

What success looks like

  • 90 days: every inbound inquiry answered within one business day, the pipeline fully loaded in HubSpot, discovery calls run on your own, and three proposals presented with leadership support.
  • 6 months: first agreements closed, proposals drafted by you with leadership review, and a weekly pipeline report leadership treats as the single source of truth.
  • 12 months: year-one quota met in net new agency fees, proposal development owned end to end, and a documented process a second seller could follow.

What you bring

  • 1 to 3 years selling B2B services, with agreements you personally closed in the $25k to $150k range. Agency, consulting or marketing services experience preferred.
  • Experience running discovery calls and presenting proposals to marketing or executive buyers, including buying groups where the signer is not your day-to-day contact.
  • Writing that earns replies: a clear qualifying email, a tight follow-up, a proposal summary a CMO reads in two minutes.
  • Working knowledge of B2B content, SEO, influencer marketing, LinkedIn, and how AI assistants are changing vendor research.
  • HubSpot or comparable CRM discipline, and the organization to manage 20 to 30 open conversations at once on a remote team.
  • Preferred: experience selling or delivering B2B influencer, content or SEO programs; selling into enterprise technology or SaaS marketing teams; familiarity with AI search optimization and audience research tools such as SparkToro.

Compensation and location

  • Base salary: $60,000 to $65,000, based on experience.
  • Uncapped commission on net new agency fees you close, paid as client payments are received, with a 90-day ramp before quota applies. Plan details are shared at offer stage.
  • Benefits:
    • Health, dental, and vision insurance
      • Flexible Spending Account after 1 year to be used against dependent care or health care expenses
      • Short and long-term disability insurance
      • Group term life insurance
    • Generous paid time off
      • 2 weeks of paid sick leave
    • 10 paid holidays
    • 401(k) plan with 3% company contribution after 1 year of employment
    • Advancement opportunities, as our goal is to promote all Sales Managers from within!
  • 100% remote within the United States. No travel required
    • $100/mo stipend for internet/phone
